Christmas saw us once again on the road, we decided to go and camp at a place the wife and i came across a few weeks earlier while coming home from another camping trip.

We head off up the highway to Kempsey where we stocked up on supplies. I'm not really sure what the name of this place is but if you follow Kempsey road i believe it is just past George's Junction.

So this place we came across was awesome, just behind us was the river. It was so hot that setting up too ages and the river kept calling us. So that is pretty much where we ended up pretty quickly.

The river was great but it was riddled with snakes, Red Belly Black snakes heaps of them. After a long discussion and several more drinks it was decided that in the morning we should move on being that it was a long way to any help.

Kempsey Rd has a fair amount of stuff to do along it and there are a heaps of tracks that are open to explore, The power line track is super step and a lot of fun also a nice spot for a coffee break There is also phone service up there too :)

After exploring some of the National Parks in the area it was time to look for somewhere to camp, Being that it was so hot a river would of been nice but unfortunate for us that wasn't to happen. We thought it might be good to take the kids and show them Apsley Falls, turns out the Aspley Falls camping grounds there were pretty good. There is even proper flushing toilets.

The next day we headed off to Cotton-Bimbang National Park and The Cells some good 4x4ing in this area but i would head the warnings and take caution heading down to the Cells River if it has been raining for a while.

There is a massive camp ground in this area called Maxwell's Flat that has a river and pit toilets, everything someone would need for camping. There was little water there this time and it was so hot all we wanted was a swim.

After playing around in this area for most of the day we knew of one last place before we ended up back on the coast.

Nowendoc Road has some good camping on it but if you find a road called Paddock Creek Road and cross the bridge just on the other side is just about enough room for three or four cars. Yes you will be cramped but the river is right there and it is a pretty cool spot. Pleanty of shade and really easy access to the water.

All in  all it was a great couple of days. Really top time and an awesome way to round out the year. We have camped up and down the coast of New South Wales tackled the Victorian High Country and even had our camping setup in 4wd Action Magazine. All in all a pretty amazing year. I really look forward to continuing this trend on in to the new year as well.

The triton copped it's first mystery war wound that took me a while to work out what had happened. The ABS warning lights came up on the dash, i thought it would of been just dust or something due to the excessive heat. Alas this was not the case. When i got home i was able to get right in under the car to check it properly as nothing jumped out at me on the side of the road. Turns out (a stick) the wires going into the back of the ABS sensor had been ripped out. Not a real hard fix but will see what Mitsubishi have to say later in the week.
